The Wii uDraw is a new way for players of all ages to interact with each other and their Wii consoles as they explore their creative artistic sides. It is a wireless tablet with a stylus tethered to it and a 6” x 4” drawing area and it integrates the Wii Remote into its design.

The Wii Draw comes bundled with the uDraw Studio drawing game, where players can explore a wide variety drawing, coloring and sketching modes that accommodate various levels of artistic capabilities and they also get to save and share their work with others.

The Wii uDraw was developed by THQ and it is supported by a series of other games like Wii Pictionary, in which it serves as the drawing pad for Dood’s Big Adventure and the player can do on-the-fly customization of the game environment and the hero.

The Wii uDraw Gametablet comes bundled with uDraw Studio. Due to this great software combination users can paint, draw, sketch and color everything they wish using 9 different media options. Another great options is that you can save and share your work with the help of an SD card.

In addition to uDraw Studio, the uDraw Gametablet will be compatible with a series of new releases. This Gametablet builds upon the innovative wireless functionality of the motion sensing Wii Remote controller by integrating a removable Wii remote (sold separately) directly into the tablet design.

This integration opens up a completely new gameplay and input options by allowing the game to track your drawing movements more accurately than you ever thought it was possible, allowing easy access to the Wii Remote buttons at the same time.

This combination also allows the tablet to draw just enough energy to power itself from the Wii Remote, which translates into less batteries to change and zero battery drain when the tablet is disconnected and it is not being used.

In addition to this, there are added sensors in the tablet that make the Wii Remote respond even quicker to the slightest of movements, motions or twists of the wrist. The interactive stylus allows you to intuitively connect with your television and games using pressure and the latest tilt-sensitive technology.

Fun with Wii Draw

The Wii Draw Gametablet comes bundled with a title called uDraw Studio which is like a simplified version of Corel Painter for Wii. You have a collection of media at your disposal like a paintbrush, chalk, pencil, a pen, charcoal and an airbrush.

With the new Wii udraw you can specify the size of each one of them individually, choose from hundreds of color palettes and create your own. Putting stylus to plastic results in some kind of unpleasant sensation at first.

The 4×6 drawing surface is smooth plastic and the plastic nub drags a little bit, it feels like the drawing surface puts up a fight. It is a great tool for kids though to make cool pictures, it works great. Using an SD card you can share your masterpieces with your friends and family.

Pressure sensitivity is present too, though you have to go into a menu to enable it with every tool selection. It would be nice if users could custom-assign specific tools to the Wiimote inputs to avoid using the menus so much. The uDraw Studio game is really a whole lot of fun.

This is a great tool for Wii Pictionary as it offers more expanded drawing options beyond simple pencil sketching. In the video game players can choose color, line type and width and can use shape tools as well. The tablet will be supported with other games like Pictionary and Dood’s Big Adventure.

There are only 90 seconds to draw something guessable and you should not waste time switching drawing tools thru the on-screen menu. The only tool that received a lot of use was the color tool. You can use the replay feature to watch how art is created stroke-by-stroke for a true learning experience.

While the normal mode felt like an inferior version to the pen-and-pencil game, things get better when you move to Pictionary Mania mode, which forces players to draw within a lot of limitations. You can use templates or your own imagination to paint, draw, color and sketch anything you wish.

As well as a freehand options, Wii uDraw offers various choices of line and shape tools, colors, line type and width. The game technology works best with the second game variation, Pictionary Mania, which adds variation to the theme like having to draw without looking at the screen or while the screen is rotating.
